Music changes our lives! It stimulates our imagination, unbridled by preconceived notions or storyline. It simultaneously engages our hearts and our minds. It challenges us to think, and it dares us to be moved. Are you up for the challenge?
Celebrating its 35th consecutive season, the Westerville Symphony at Otterbein University offers an exciting array of concerts in 2017-2018 that will entertain and enlighten. With each program, we strive to present you, our listener, with the very best in symphonic music that will inspire and transform. We will journey to the far reaches of our solar system with a multi-discipline, multimedia production of Gustav Holst’s The Planets. We will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of American musical icon Leonard Bernstein. The brilliance of the genius of Mozart will take on new dimensions, and our collaboration with the Westerville Public Library, Tunes-n-Tales, will reach audiences all over Central Ohio. We will also enjoy a nostalgic setting of the music of The Beatles in a newly commissioned concerto for violin and orchestra.
This stellar anniversary season will enjoy collaborations with The Now Device, a group of dynamic visual artists from Seattle who have created a live assembly of stunning actual images of space exploration. Violinist Lindsay Deutsch will join the orchestra for a performance of her new Beatles Concerto, and she will explore a number of outreach experiences throughout our community as a part of her residency. The choral forces of Otterbein University will also join the orchestra in an ever-popular musical experience. From internationally acclaimed soloists to our own Central Ohio neighbors, the artists all share a common goal, that of enhancing your life through their music.
Be a part of the celebration! Come see the Westerville Symphony this season, and dare to be moved!
